These are photos taken from my fablelike home island between 2017 and 2020. Gotland is the island of roses, a medieval island in the middle of the baltic ocean. The history of the island is something that incessantly shines through her work.
Tjelvar sailed over the baltic ocean from Svea Land to the island. The island no one could inhabit, as it went below ocean level at night, to rise again in the dawn. Tjelvar, together with his wife Hwitastierna, brought fire to the island to break the spell. Their children came to be the ancestors of the Gutes. Hwitastierna had a dream about three snakes, which came to symbolize that all things are connected in circles.
